'Intel 82865G Graphics Controller' Doesn't Work?
Apr 15, 2009I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate (Build 7000) on an lenovo pc (Intel Pentium 4 - 2.8GHz, 2.00 GB RAM). my pc's actual graphics card is 'Intel 82865G Graphics Controller' but windows 7 loads it as 'standard VGA graphics card' which gives me a very very bad video quality but computer works great. HOWEVER,when i update video graphics back to my 'Intel 82865G Graphics Controller' & play any video, the video quality is excellent & direct 3d & hardware acceleration starts working contrary to 'standard VGA graphics card' but gives major computer operation problems. For e.g., As soon as i resize my VLC interface or run any other media players (like powerdvd or windows media players etc), the computer either gets stuck/hung or it shows a blue screen message saying 'disable bios memory such as caching or shadowing' OR 'page_fault_in_nonpaged_area' & lots of other explorer based problems.i tried changing various 3d settings in opengl as well, but in vain.
Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller Driver Issues
Jan 28, 2009I'm having trouble installing the drivers for a Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller in Windows 7 on a Gateway/Motion Computing M1300 tablet.
Before you say 'DriverMax' please note that Windows 7 is the only operating system installed on the tablet. I hope there's another way to get it working.
Here's the thing that strikes me as odd: I have gotten it to work perfectly, but as soon as I restart it goes back to its old ways (default VGA controller driver, etc).
Here's what I do to get it working:
1) I run the setup file that came with the driver I downloaded from Intel (version 14.19.50), either natively or in Windows XP compatibility mode,
2) The setup software asks me to restart, and I comply
When the computer boots back up after those steps everything is working just fine, BUT then a Windows prompt appears telling me that I need to restart in order to complete the driver configuration. When I restart hardware once again has trouble.
My real problem with not having the correct driver installed is not that display functions are lost (though they are), but that the Hibernate and Stand By modes are disabled.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Is there a way to keep Windows 7 from reverting to the old driver?

BSOD With Install Of Intel Graphics Driver Or Install Of Graphics Card
Jul 19, 2012I've completed a new custom build, but have had problems with BSOD from the beginning with any installation of Intel Graphics drivers or the installation of any graphics card.
When I first completed the build, the XFX-7950 Black was installed. I booted to BIOS without issue, but when I inserted the Windows 7 (64 bit) it would boot through the windows logo screen but immediately BSOD right after going to the first install screen.
I removed the graphics card, and was able to complete the full Windows install without issue. I updated Windows and the drivers on the system but as soon as I installed the Intel 3000 Graphics driver, it would BSOD on every restart. I recovered back prior to the Graphics driver install and installed all other drivers. I updated the BIOS to the latest version.
I have reattempted the XFX 7950 multiple times in different slots, but with the same results. I also attempted my Radeon HD 4550 from my old computer but it gave the same results. It always boots through the Windows logo screen, but BSOD within a few seconds of reaching the password screen.
I broke down and installed Driver Whiz, which did detect multiple outdated drivers that I had not caught, but none of these fix the issues.
I've attached the requested zip. I don't think all BSOD's are showing up, as I've had to use recovery points after installed drivers didn't work. The last .dmp on 19 JUL was a Intel Graphics driver install attempt that I pulled off in safe mode before recovering back to the pre-driver point.

Display Driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver For Windows XP Stop?
Sep 22, 2012I have an Acer Aspire 7741z-4433 with an Intel(R) Pentium(R) p6200 (2.13 GHz, 3MB 1.3 cache). This only happens to me while I am playing The Sims 3. I have the game set on the lowest quality settings, even though my laptop 'claims' to be HD LED, etc. This issue still happens. As you may know I cannot replace the graphics card as it is apart of the motherboard, and to buy a new motherboard with a better graphics card would cost more than a new computer. I have been the my manufacture's website and tried installing an update of the graphics card, and that didn't do the trick either. I am at my wits end, and I just want to play the game without it shutting down and freezing my computer. The reason I know the error is because I do Alt + Tab to get back to the desktop. The way it acts up while I am in game is the screen blacks out but I can still see the software's mouse, and then it blinks a couple times and then freezes completely?
Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver
Aug 19, 2012Every 5-10 minutes my screen turns black, sort of flashes a bit, and then comes back on in different colours and the windows are all different sizes, but then it changes a bit and goes back to normal. Then I get a balloon message from the task bar saying 'Display driver Intel Graphics Accelerator Driver for Windows Vista® stopped responding and has successfully recovered.' (screenshot below) For some reason it says 'for Windows Vista® but I am on Windows 7. When it has come back to normal again, Chrome goes all funny and the tabs won't switch. So if I try to switch tabs, the top thing is on the tab that I have switched to, but the main screen below stays on what the previous tab was. Also, sometimes the tab becomes unresponsive and I have to either restart Chrome or refresh the tab.
Could Old Intel Graphics Driver Cause IE9 To Crash
Jan 9, 2012I've been having problems updating my Intel Graphics Media Accelerator driver, 8.15.10.2119. It is the version that prevents Win 7 SP1 from showing up in WU. I read a thread about this very issue from 2011, but the link provided to go to Intel to get the latest driver leads to nowhere. I cannot find a place to go to update the driver. I manually downloaded SP1 and installed it and it is working fine. My question is: do I still need to update the driver, and if so, where do I get it from? Neither HP nor Intel is any help here. And would this driver cause IE9 to crash? The computer came with IE8 on it, but I installed IE9 in Nov. 2011. Shortly after, I was getting a message like 'Internet Explorer has stopped working'. I uninstalled IE9 and went back to IE8, but I had the same problem there as well. IE8 worked fine until I upgraded to IE9. Then I uninstalled IE8 and changed to IE9, where I still have problems. I have contacted MS Support about this, and one option given was to reformat the hard drive, which I really don't want to do. They were concerned about the fact that SP1 was not offered and hinted that the computer would be more vulnerable to problems without it installed. My firewall and anti-virus have turned up nothing. I use Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security.

Intel Accelerated Graphics Driver?
Feb 4, 2013The Intel Accelerated Graphics Driver (Version 8.15.10.1930) is not working properly. I clicked for my computer to apply the fix but it keeps giving me the message to 'make sure I'm connected to the internet and to try back later.' I am connected to the internet but the fix just won't apply!I thought of removing the driver and then going onto Intel's website and reloading it however I'm afraid that if I uninstall it I'll have even more problems.

Intel D975XBX2 Serial ATA Controller Driver?
Feb 4, 2011upgraded my O/S from windows professional XP 64-bit with a clean install of windows 7 Professional x-64. The motherboard is an Intel D972XBX2, and the PC that it is installed in works just fine. The devices connected to the on-board SATA connectors include a 500GB Hitachi HDD and a Lite-on DVD-ROM drive, and I do not have any problems with these. However, indications in Device Manager are that no driver has been installed for the serial ATA controller, and this is a big puzzle that has me stumped. I am unable to find any compatible driver from either the Intel driver download center, or microsoft windows update, for this component and I am unable to get any assistance from Intel Tech Support. This is simply because the D975XBX2 mother board is no longer made by them. I've had this PC for almost four years, and all hardware passed the Microsoft windows 7 hardware compatibility test which convinced me to follow through with the upgrade to this operating system.

An AGP Graphics Card as found in most Desktop Computers.

Overview
One of the most common problems with Wurm (and a lot of games) is ensuring that your graphic card is compatible. Wurm requires Java and OpenGL so forget about DirectX, there is no need to update to the latest versions or include this in your list of worries. Let's get Java out of the way. Go to http://www.java.com/download and click on the bright red 'Free Java Download' button in the middle of the page. Download, install and be happy. The recommendation is for a minimum java version of 1.6.33 and the action just taken will ensure this.
This now leaves us with your graphic card to deal with. Wurm requires a minimum of OpenGL 1.3 and this is usually supplied as part of your card's video drivers. If your card manufacturer does not supply the OpenGL drivers or they are inadequate then often there is little you can do except get another card. As each manufacturer is different, the rest of this will be broken down into manufacturers. For each individual entry use OS / Version / GFX Card / Status where status can be ok, broken for fixed #nnn where nnn is one of the corrective actions added by contributors.
ATI & NVidia (most compatible)
ATI drivers are available from http://support.amd.com/us/Pages/AMDSupportHub.aspx .
NVidia drivers are available from http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp .
Alternative: Omega Drivers
Some ATI and NVidia graphics cards, mainly onboard and laptop models, are not supported by the standard drivers. You will have to get the drivers from the manufacturer of your laptop etc. and those are often outdated.
Therefore it is sometimes impossible to get drivers that are new enough to support Wurm.
If this is the case, then your only chance might be to use these unofficial, third-party drivers:

NOTE: These drivers are supplied as-is and are NOT guaranteed in any way. Use of Omega Drivers is at your own risk!
Intel
Many built-in Intel graphics cards cannot run Wurm well. Even with low details the frame rates are still low.
Sometimes the terrain will show a kind of red shadow. This can be fixed on Windows XP by installing the latest graphics card drivers from Intel. Version 5248 of the Windows XP driver is known to fix the red terrain. The current Windows Vista/Windows 7 drivers do still show the red terrain.
Some laptop manufacturers do not provide updated drivers so you may have to uninstall the manufacturer supplied driver and install the latest driver from the Intel website.
Sis
Some models of the SiS 740 series of motherboard chipsets are equipped with a very low-end 3D accelerated IGP (integrated graphics processor).
The usual motherboard setup (not user modifiable) is to share system memory to video memory. This leads to very poor performance. Add to the recipe a lousy OpenGL implementation in their drivers, and you get a motherboard that can play Wurm without extra hardware, but with lots of rendering errors, most of the text missing and clumsy gameplay. This setup is highly unrecommended.
Fortunately, these chipsets support an external AGP board and the motherboard manufacturers were keen on placing a AGP port on most motherboards equipped by them. If this is your case (check it out!), buy either a recommended ATI or NVidia card for a much better gaming experience.
3Dfx
Incompatible. 3dfx ceased operating in 2000 and was purchased by Nvidia.
S3
Most S3 graphics cards (E.g Savage/ProSavage/Twister) cannot run Wurm, but please add your card here if you can play Wurm with an S3 card.
Matrox
Unknown? Matrox Parheliamay be able to.
Unknown
If you don't know what your graphics are then it's time to identify them. To do this:
- Linux
- Use lspci or lspci -v and search for the graphic card details.
- Windows
- start menu->run enter dxdiag, read the supplied information.
Intel has some documentation and a free utility you can use to identify your Intel Chipset, including any Intel Graphics. You can download it from Intel: http://support.intel.com/support/chipsets/chipsetid.htm
Post what the utility says your 'integrated Graphics' chip is.

- Linux
- glxinfo will list something similar to the following:
- Windows
- visualinfo and glewinfo are available from http://glew.sourceforge.net
- glInfo is available from http://www.delphi3d.net/hardware/glinfo2.zip , can generate HTML reports and send the details to Delphi3D.net online database.
- OpenGL Extension Viewer from http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/OpenGL_Extension_Viewer_for_Windows/1060137702/1
visualinfo is a small dos utility that displays all available visuals, aka. pixelformats, in an OpenGL system along with renderer version information. It shows a table of all the visuals that support OpenGL along with their capabilities. The format of the table is similar to that of glxinfo on Unix systems.
glewinfo is a small dos utility that displays the OpenGL version, provider, and an extensive list of OpenGL extensions.
Corrective Actions
This will be a list of actions which led to a working setup. If the actions are complex and not a one liner then consider adding a page with the detail and link to it.
Setups that are known to work

Note: some of the information here has been harvested from information posted by Wurm users in the Wurm forums.
When you buy a new graphics card, remember there are many different types of interfaces including PCI, AGP and PCI Express. You need to buy a graphics card that your motherboard will support. Many old PCs use PCI and some fairly new ones use AGP but most brand new PCs now use PCI Express. Don't get muddled up with PCI and PCI Express - they are not compatible. Be careful that the person who is selling the graphics card knows the difference between them - you don't want to buy a graphics card that is not compatible with your PC!
Also remember that you will need a graphics card with the right output for your monitor. Most graphics cards and monitors use VGA but some newer models now use DVI. There are many different types of DVI and they should all be compatible with each other. DVI gives a better quality picture than VGA, so if you are looking for a graphics card/monitor, try to buy ones that support DVI.
